OUR 2023 GOAL
Setting Sail Across the Red, White and Blue
This July, our team of six riders will be embarking on a two-month journey from the Pacific coast to the Atlantic coast, covering over 4,200 miles on the Trans-America Bike Route.
The Dream
The dream began a few years back with our own, Justin Pierson.
Inspired by random encounters with adventurous strangers and one of his favorite movies, “Forrest Gump,” he had alway wanted to ride across the United States. Through dreaming out loud, a group of family and friends formed around the concept creating the team we have today. However, as great as achieving this long distance bike ride would be, we collectively thought this could be an incredible opportunity to do something even bigger. To be a part of a solution for a huge problem that each of our team members are passionate to see eradicated from the world. Hence, Bike Against Traffic (BAT) was formed as a way to raise awareness and funds to fight the evil of human trafficking and slavery.
So now what?
Currently, we are in full preparation mode. From reaching out to sponsors, generating content, planning the logistics of the trip and getting our bodies prepared physically for the epic road ahead.
We will be documenting our journey on social media and our website, and we hope to raise $1,000,000 to support our riders as well as organizations that support survivors of human trafficking and those who work to prevent this devastating crime.
Last summer, while on a road trip brainstorming for BAT, we were discussing the heart of this non-profit. In that conversation Justin came up with a slogan, “Do something that does something.” That is exactly what we intend to do as we make our way across this beautiful nation.
